Wodurch zeichnet sich eigentlich richtig gutes Design aus? Funktionalität? Ästhetik? Beste Qualität in Material und Verarbeitung? Nachhaltigkeit? Am besten doch eine Kombination aus alledem. Und genau das ist der schwedischen Designagentur PEOPLE PEOPLE mit dem Transparent Speaker gelungen.
Die Audiokomponenten in Premiumqualität sind in einen cleanen Glaskörper eingelassen, der sich durch seine Transparenz jeder Umgebung subtil anpasst. Der Transparent Speaker kann sowohl über Kabel mit den entsprechenden Geräten verbunden, oder aber via Wifi drahtlos mit Musik versorgt werden. Ein extra „Toaster Slot“ ermöglicht sogar die Nutzung von Apple‘s AirPlay.
PEOPLE PEOPLE bietet den Lautsprecher auf zwei verschiedene Arten an: Entweder wird er komplett zusammengebaut geliefert oder man bestellt nur die Audio-Komponenten und lässt sich bei einem lokalen Anbieter das Glas nach Vorlage oder eigenem Design zuschneiden und gestalten. Diese Variante kommt durch die kleinere Verpackung und dem wesentlich einfacherem Transport sogar der Umwelt zu Gute. Zudem kann jedes Teil problemlos ersetzt werden, falls es einmal den Geist aufgeben oder zu Bruch gehen sollte.
Der Transparent Speaker befindet sich noch in der Entwicklungsphase und soll im April 2013 auf den Markt kommen. Seit gestern kann das Projekt bei Kickstarter unterstützt werden.

A year ago, we introduced the People People Transparant Speaker to the world – The response was tremendous!
Due to the transparency of the glass-based design the speaker easily blends into any living room out there. It is physically big enough to provide great sound quality – yet it only takes up a limited amount of visual space. Compatible with any wireless technology (it even has space and power out for an Airport Express in the back) this speaker plays your music without cables directly from any device or software.
The Transparent Speaker will be available in different configurations: Fully Assembled and supply your own local glass. The build-your-own kit reduces the overall size and impact of shipping. The supply-your-own glass kit (we will supply you with the blueprints) reduces the weight and size of shipments by half and lets users customize their panels however they’d like. By reducing the need for assembly in the factory, shipping is much more efficient and local glass businesses are utilized.“
